Abstract:
To provide a two-dimensional photonic crystal surface emitting laser that facilitates fabrication, without separately providing a current narrowing structure, and to provide a method of manufacturing the laser.
The two-dimensional photonic crystal surface emitting laser includes first and second semiconductor layers and an active layer interposed between the first semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer for generating light by carrier injection. The first semiconductor layer has a plurality of protrusions oppositely to the active layer, wherein all or part of the plurality of protrusions form a two-dimensional photonic crystal structure.
