Abstract:

To provide a fluid injection type internal combustion engine capable of keeping increase of a work load and a thermal efficiency rise by injection of steam or the like, reducing cylinder temperature to decrease a generation amount of NOx (nitrogen oxide) and maintaining durability of combustion chamber forming members.

The two fluid injection type internal combustion engine is equipped with both a fuel injection valve for injecting fuel from a fuel injector into a cylinder and a steam injection valve for injecting steam from a steam injector into the cylinder. The fuel is injected from the fuel injection valve into the cylinder before a top dead center of the internal combustion engine and the steam is injected from the steam injection valve twice before termination of a heat receiving period after the fuel injection and from the termination of the heat receiving period to an expansion stroke.
