PURPOSE: To prevent the breakage of a paper web and to improve drying performance by attracting the web onto sheaves by the air stream of an air guide box arranged within a longitudinally hole formed by the sheaves via sheave guide rollers between adjacent heating cylinders.
CONSTITUTION: The endless sheave of an upper part is arranged via the sheave guide rollers 17 at the upper cylinders 11 and 13 of the two-sheave cylinder dryer arranged in upper and lower cylinder trains superposed with the heating and drying cylinders on each other, and similarly, the lower endless sheave is arranged in the lower cylinders as well. Low pressure is generated in the portion of the feeding position A of the paper web 9 of the cylinder 11 by an air guide box 21 extended in parallel with the sheave guide rollers 17 in the longitudinal hole 19 formed by the sheaves 15 and the sheave guide rollers 17 between the adjacent cylinders 11 and 13, and high pressure is generated in the portion of the longitudinal hole 19 regulated by a sealing plate 31, by which the paper web 9 is attracted to the sheaves 15 and is made to stably travel from the cylinder 11 to the cylinder 13 and is thus dried.
