To provide a two-stage rotary compressor capable of abolishing a recessed groove machining for installing an O-ring on the outer periphery of a bearing part formed in a thin wall thickness and long size and a cutting of an upper support member in the upper support member of a rotating/ compressing element.

An electric element 5 and the rotating/compressing element 6 are vertically disposed in a closed container 1, and the rotating/compressing element 6 is disposed with a low-stage side rotating/compressing element positioned on the upper side and a high-stage side rotating/compressing element 11 positioned on the lower side. Accurate gas sealability is not required for a muffling chamber 12b in the upper support member 12 since a refrigerant gas of an intermediate pressure compressed by the low-stage side rotating/compressing element is discharged into the closed container 1. Accordingly, the recessed groove machining for installing the O-ring must not be performed on the outer periphery of the bearing part 12a of the upper support member, and also the upper support member is unnecessary to be cut. Since the accurate gas sealability is requested for the muffling chamber 13b in a lower support member 13, a recessed groove 13e is circumferentially formed in the lower end face of the bearing part 13a formed in a thick wall and short size and in which the O-ring 23 is installed, and a step is formed at the joint part thereof with a cover plate 21 and a gasket 24 is interposed therein.
