Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent or reduce the generation of switch noise by gradually closing a fluid passage.
SOLUTION: A two-stage shock absorber is provided with a pressure pipe 14 in which valve assemblies 44 and 46 are slidably arranged. A piston rod 18 is mounted on a valve assembly and extended in a manner to stretch out from the pressure pipe 14. A ring is slidably arranged in the pressure pipe and engaged with a valve assembly 42. After, during stretching movement of the shock absorber, the valve assembly is moved relative to the pressure pipe by a given amount, a sleeve 78 is engaged with metering grooves 86 and 88. A flow of fluid passing through the valve assembly 42 is reduced and the shock absorber is gradually switched from soft damping to rigid damping.
