Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01148370
Kind Code:

PURPOSE:To draw out the brightness of a metallic base paint film, to compensate for the brightness of the paint film, to reduce the film thickness difference, and to ameliorate the appearance by omitting the color base coating stage at the time of applying a pearl mica paint. CONSTITUTION:The metallic base paint is applied over the whole surface of a material 1 to be coated as a first coating color to form the metallic base paint film 3. A clear coat paint is then applied, and baked to form a clear coat paint film 4. A part of the film 4 is masked, a mica base paint is applied on the unmarked part as a second coating color to form a mica base paint film 5, and a clear coat paint is then applied and baked to form a clear coat paint film 6. The mask on the paint film is finally removed, and the brightness of the metallic base paint film 3 is drawn out by the mica base paint film 5 and the clear coat paint film 6.
