To obtain a W/O-type anti-suntan cosmetic free from ultraviolet absorber, having excellent ultraviolet protecting effect and high safety to the skin and giving exellent feeling to the skin.

This anti-suntan cosmetic contains 20-60wt.% of a volatile component (e.g. dimethylpolysiloxane), 0.1-1.5wt.% of an organic-modified clay mineral(e.g. dodecyltrimethylammonium chloride) and 0.5-20wt.% of spherical resin powder(e.g. nylon powder). The cosmetic is preferably further incorporated with 1-20wt.% of an ultraviolet scattering agent (e.g. titanium oxide). It may further be compounded with various components ordinarily used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc. The cosmetic exhibits excellent ultraviolet protecting effect without using an ultraviolet absober and is smoothly spreadable on the skin.
