PURPOSE: To bend accurately and efficiently a reinforcing steel to a U-shape by one process, by placing the reinforcing steel on a fixed stand and a movable stand provided to allow changing of distance, and bending the part projecting from the two stands by a rod while pressing the steel by pressing bodies.

CONSTITUTION: A fixed stand 12 attached horizontally to an end of a nearly rectangular machine stand 10 consists of a U-shaped bar. A movable stand 16 similar in structure to the stand 12 is provided on the stand 10 parallel to the stand 12 through stands 20a, 20b. The stands 20a, 20b are fitted slidably to the groove of the stand 10, and the distance between stands 12 and 16 can be changed by operating connected chains 24a, 24b. This distance is set to desired length and the reinforcing steel 60 is placed on the stands 12, 16. Pressing bodies 32, 54 attached slidably to the frame on the stands 10, 20 are lowered above the stands 12, 16, and the reinforcing steel 60 is pressed to the stands 12, 16. By lowering bars 42, 58 attached rotatably to the pressing bodies 32, 54, the reinforcing steel 60 is bent to a U-shape.
