To provide a U-shaped strainer according to the present invention for separating and removing solid foreign substances in fluids that flow through various piping lines, so as to prevent the solid foreign substances from flowing out to a secondary passage.
This U-shaped strainer comprises a tubular screen 8 that has a bottom and is removably provided between a primary-side passage 4 and the secondary-side passage 5 provided within a body 1, a takeout port 9 that is established for the screen 8 on the upper portion of the body 1 so as to communicate with the primary-side passage 4, and a cover 10 that is provided on the takeout port 9, wherein a flange part 8a provided on the circumference of the opening part of the screen 8 is set up via a sealant 11 at a circular step part 7a arranged so as to face the takeout port 9 on the same axis therewith, and a ring-shaped flange retainer 12 for pressing and retaining the flange part 8a is screwed and fixed at the circular step part 7a.
