Title:
ULTRA-HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP AND LIGHTING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004303600
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an ultra-high pressure discharge lamp capable of delivering the equivalent performance with a low arc tube temperature distribution grounded on future tendency toward higher brightness and smaller size, contrary to the concept of the upper control of the coldest point temperatures in conventional ultra-high pressure discharge lamps.

Let the shaft diameter of an electrode of the ultra-high pressure discharge lamp to be D (μm), a distance from the arc end of the electrode to the substantial other end to be L (mm), and an input power to be W (w). After 1.0≤D/W≤3.5 is satisfied, an electrode shaft length is set under the condition of 4≤L/W×100≤50, a temperature distribution is lowered by providing the electrode with a self-cooling mechanism, then an arc gap specified with the predetermined thickness is disposed, the pressure luminescence of a high mercury vapor is enabled. Consequently, the quality deterioration of a lamp caused by an impurity reaction is suppressed, and the ultra-high pressure discharge lamp with a long life and a high reliability is configured. Thus, the problem is solved, in that performance is forced to be maintained at the vicinity of the limit value of silica glass as raw material of arc tube in conventional ultra-high pressure discharge lamps.
