Title:
ULTRAFINE GRAIN AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3205793
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain ultrafine grains excellent in dispersion stability by allowing the grains to have a structure in which the center part is composed of metallic components derived from a metallic organic compound and the outer surface surrounded by the metallic organic compound and specifying the average grain size.
SOLUTION: A metallic organic compound (such as silver stearate, copper oleate, nickel paratoluate or the like) is heated at the decomposition starting temp. of the metallic organic compound to less than the complete decomposition temp. in an inert atmosphere of nitrogen or the like in which air is isolated. At the time of the heating, various alcohol may be added to the metallic organic compound. Ultrafine grains with 1 to 100nm average grain size in which the center part is composed of metallic components originated from the metallic organic compound and the outer surface is surrounded by the metallic organic compound can be obtd. This ultrafine grains have a structure different from the conventional one and can widely be used for electronic materials, magnetic materials, catalytic materials or the like.
