PURPOSE: To make a probe follow a surface to be inspected, in a state of being pressed stably thereon, and to reduce an external force applied on an arm by providing a magnet roller in the vicinity of the probe and by making it receive a counterforce of pressing of the probe and the gravity of a probe unit and others.
CONSTITUTION: A running body 3 fitted so that it can run along a circular track 1 fitted on the straight pipe side of a piping 2 has an arm 6 projecting in the longitudinal direction of the piping 2. This arm 6 is held slidably by an arm holder 11 and can be positioned arbitrarily by the rotation of a pinion 12 geared with a rack. A probe unit 7 is fitted to the fore end of the arm 6 and a magnet roller 13 is fitted rotatably to this unit by a pin 14. The roller 13 is fitted by attraction on the piping 2 and supports the counterforce of a direct drive mechanism 8 pressing a probe 10 on the surface of the piping 2, the gravity of the unit 7, etc. According to this constitution, sharp reduction of a force pressing the arm 6 and the holder 11 is enabled.
