To solve the problem of a conventional ultrasonic cleaning apparatus that through food to be cleaned is soft, erosion is caused on the bottom plate of a cleaning tank since food hits on the bottom plate directly and cavitation intensity is increased by agitation by an propeller, consequently the durability of the bottom plate is deteriorated and frequent maintenance is necessary.
The object to be cleaned and a cleaning liquid 2 are put in a cleaning tank 1. Such an agitation unit 3 is arranged in the tank 1 that has four plate-like agitation members 3b extending from the rotary shaft 3a to the vertical directions respectively. The tank 1 is made to have double bottom consisting of a first bottom plate 1a and a second bottom plate 1b. A vibration transmitting medium 5 such as deaerated water having a small loss of acoustic energy is enclosed between the plate 1a and the plate 1b so that cavitation is hardly caused. A plurality of Langevin type vibrators 4 are arranged on the outside of the plate 1b uniformly around the unit 3. An outflow port 6 is arranged in the center of the double bottom. The plate 1a to be in contact with the liquid 2 is made from a material from which metallic ion is not eluted.
