PURPOSE: To shorten a manufacture period by composing a device in which many units of a single kind are arranged and each unit can be controlled with common control signal wires.
CONSTITUTION: Control signals are outputted to common signal wires 4 such as a bus line in a control circuit 3. In a unit 1, each circuit of individual units #1 - #5 in the inside of the unit 1 is set and the transmitting and receiving of ultrasonic waves are made so that the transmitting and receiving positions and the focal distances of ultrasonic beams, corresponding to the control signals outputted to the common signal wires 4, can be obtained, and then the control signals are renewed to change the transmitting and receiving positions or the focal distances of the ultrasonic beams for making the transmitting and receiving of next ultrasonic beams. This constitution can manufacture a device having a requested specification in a short time. When the specification of a device is to be expanded, it is possible to cope with the expansion by adding a required unit without a new design and manufacturing.
