To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus having a front end which can be folded over while deflecting an ultrasonic beam.

The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus includes: a plurality of vibrators for transmitting/receiving the ultrasonic beam to/from a subject; a high withstand voltage switch for selecting a plurality of vibrators to be used for transmission/reception among the vibrators; a plurality of pulse oscillator for driving the vibrators selected by the high withstand voltage switch; a trigger generating circuit for controlling the pulse generation timings of the pulse oscillators; a switch for performing the addition of the signals of the vibrators axisymmetrical to the beam among a plurality of reception signals obtained by the vibrators selected by the high withstand voltage switch; and a beam former for performing the delay addition of the signals output from the switch. The apparatus also includes an angle acquiring part for acquiring an angle θ made by the direction of a reflection surface of the subject and an alignment direction of the vibrators. The trigger generating circuit performs control to transmit the ultrasonic beam against the reflection surface at an angle of 2θ with respect to a line perpendicular to the alignment direction of the aligned vibrators.
