To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic equipment and a control method for it, facilitating visual confirmation on the positional relationship between a puncture needle and a treatment region in the case of monitoring the treatment region and the puncture needle using a three-dimensional image in paracentesis.
An angle for favorably observing the positional relationship between the puncture needle and the treatment region is previously registered. A predetermined operation is taken as a trigger, the current observation angle is automatically switched to the registered observation angle to generate and display a three-dimensional image about it. A puncture needle position image (e.g. orthogonal two sections including a puncture needle) is generated based upon the detected puncture needle position, and displayed with the three-dimensional ultrasonic image. Further, clipping is performed by a clipping surface including the detected puncture needle, thereby generating and displaying a three-dimensional image according to volume data from which part on this side of the puncture needle is removed.
