Title:
ULTRASONIC FLAW INSPECTION FOR ELECTRIC WELDED STAINLESS STEEL PIPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6134460
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To inhibit the generation of a noise echo in the ultrasonic flaw inspection, by having an austenite based electric welded stainless steel pipe subjected to a heat treatment process of heating it above 850°C upto 1,350°C and cooling.
CONSTITUTION: An austenite based electric welded steel pipe is subjected to a heat treatment above 850°C to reduce the noise echo at an electric welded part to such an extent not to hamper the ultrasonic flaw inspection. Here, the upper limit of the heat treatment temperature should not exceed 1,350°C because crystal particles tend to be coarse while the noise echo level remains unchanged.
