Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic gas meter causing no measurement error due to an effect of water infiltrated into a gas flow channel.SOLUTION: The ultrasonic gas meter comprises: a flow channel 11a in which an inflow port 12 and an outflow port 13 are formed; a measuring pipe 20 that has a near-cylinder shape and is connected on the way of the flow channel 11a in such a manner that it communicates with the flow channel 11a; a pair of ultrasonic propagation means 21a, 21b disposed with a prescribed distance in between at an upstream side and a downstream side of the measuring pipe 20; flow rate detection means 23b for calculating a flow rate of gas flowing inside the measuring pipe 20 based on a detection signal output by the ultrasonic propagation means 21a, 21b; and a shut-off device 19 for shutting off the gas flowing inside the flow channel 11a based on the flow rate calculated by the flow rate detection means 23b. Because the axis of the measuring pipe 20 is installed in a vertical position, if water infiltrates into the gas meter 10, it flows through the inflow port 12 and goes out of the outflow port 13 and does not stay inside the measuring pipe 20, by which measurement errors due to water infiltration are eliminated.
