Abstract:
PURPOSE:To miniaturize an ultrasonic piezoelectric transducer for vibrational cutting and the like of a machine tool by fastening electrostrictive strain elements for torsional vibration, electrostrictive strain elements for longitudinal vibration and metallic members onto the same axis, twisting one end face of a metallic member and forming an output end into a sectional shape for coincidence of longitudinal vibration resonance frequency. CONSTITUTION:Electrostrictive strain elements for longitudinal vibration 11, 12, electrostrictive strain elements for torsional vibration 13, 14 and metallic members 27, 28 are fastened by a bolt 32 for parallel cutting 33 on the edge of the metallic member 28 in order to form an output end part 34. Also, electrodes 22, 24 are connected together in order to be common electrodes 22, 24. In this structure, ac voltage is applied between the common electrodes 22, 24 and either an electrode 23 or an electrode 25 in order to regulate a frequency into the longitudinal resonance frequency or the torsional resonance frequency for generating resonance vibration of the output end face 34 of a vibration element 10 in either an axial or a torsional direction at the maximum amplitude. By the above structure, a piezoelectric transducer can be miniaturized.
