PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic prove for internal body cavities having a structure in which an oscillator is set close to the top end of a tube as much as possible.
CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic probe 10 for internal body cavities has an oscillator 12 for transmitting and receiving an ultrasonic wave fixed to the probe top end part, and the oscillator 12 is held by an oscillator holder 13. The oscillator holder 13 is formed of a metal member or a hard resin, and connected to a shaft 14 for transmitting the rotation from a control part. A metal ball 16 which is a friction preventing means is partially buried in a tube 15 between the rotating oscillator holder 13 and the top end of the tube 15. Since the part exposed from the tube 15 of the metal ball 16 is in contact with the top end smooth surface of the oscillator holder 13, the oscillator 12 can be provided near the top end of the tube 15. The oscillator 12, the oscillator holder 13 and the shaft 14 are housed in the flexible tube 15 used also as an acoustic membrane.
