To smoothly form a joining shape of webs by overlapping both webs each other by a prescribed quantity after first and second webs are cut in an overlapped condition, performing welding-joining on a superposed part by ultrasonic energy, and cutting a width directional end part of a welded seam part in the next place.
In an ultrasonic splicer 200 as an ultrasonic welder, a web carrying device 210 carries the web tip clamped by a clamp part 211 up to a double cutter 230, and after a web suction box 221 is lowered, a web suction box 222 is moved to the web suction box 221 side, and the web suction box 221 is refloated, and first and second webs are overlapped on each other. The double cutter 230 cuts the first and the second webs in an overlapped condition, and a horn unit 250 performs welding-joining on a part overlapped by a fixing device 240. Joining part both ends of the webs after joining processing are cut off by an edge cutter 260.
