Abstract:

PURPOSE: To join a high hardness material and a low hardness material with a sufficient strength.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of different kinds of metal to be welded, namely joining members 6 are arranged between an ultrasonic tool 4 and a working table 5. The joining members 6 consist of a high-hardness material (high hardness steel) with a low-hardness covering layer (copper covering layer) 6a' susceptible to a plastic flow formed on the surface, low-hardness material (aluminum material) 6b placed on the working table 5, and other low-hardness material (copper material, for example) 6c arranged between the high-hardness material 6a and the ultrasonic tool 4. In this case, the thickness of the low-hardness covering layer 6a' is set at approximately 5-10μm. In addition, the thickness of other low-hardness material 6c is set at least at the depth of a slip-preventing knurling tool, 4a or more, with its hardness set at a hardness (Hv50-110) equivalent to pure copper susceptible to a plastic flow and hard to be transferred.
