Abstract:

To obtain a composition having an excellent ultraviolet-absorbing effect by mixing microcapsules containing an ultraviolet absorber with a substance that has the property of scattering ultraviolet rays.

This composition contains microcapsules containing an ultraviolet absorber and a substance that has the property of scattering ultraviolet rays in a weight ratio of 100:1 to 1:100. The microcapsules have each a wall made by polycondensing one or more compounds which are selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the formula (wherein m is 1-4; n is 0-3; m+n≤4; R is an organic group; and Y is an alkoxy, hydrogen, or siloxy), at least one of which is a compound of the formula (wherein m=2 or 3), and at least one of which is a compound having at least one R that is lyophilic for at least either the continuous phase or the disperse phase. R that is lyophilic is desirably one having a polypeptide or a polyoxyethylene.
