Title:
ULTRAVIOLET-ABSORBING MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3722986
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a material which is easily synthesized and can stably absorb ultraviolet rays and from which an ultraviolet-absorber is not dissolved out even when the intermolecular distance is relatively large by copolymerizing a benzotriazole-type ultraviolet-absorbing monomer and a copolymerizable vinyl monomer.
SOLUTION: The benzotriazole-type ultraviolet-absorbing monomer is represented by the formula (wherein X is H or a halogen; R1 is H or a 1-6C alkyl; R2 and R3 are each a linear or branched 1-10C alkylene chain; and R4 is H or CH3). Pref., the alkyl group of R1 is selected from among 4-6C t-alkyl groups. For example, 2-[2-hydroxy-5-methacryloxy(2'-hydroxy-3'-propoxy)propyl-3- t-butylphenyl]-2H-benzotriazole and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate are copolymerized in a wt. ratio of (30/70)-(10/90).
