Title:
ULTRAVIOLET RAY IRRADIATION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS51128144
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
In an appliance for UV irradiation of flowing media, such as sludge, liquids and gases, the medium to be subjected to the reaction flows simultaneously through a plurality of reaction chambers arranged in parallel, in which the medium is subjected to UV irradiation by means of tubular UV lamps. In order to ensure the radiation intensity required for the reaction, and to be able to cope with large flow rates (throughput per unit time) of the medium to be treated, provision is made for the walls of the reaction chambers (1) to consist of material transparent to UV radiation and be irradiated from outside with axially parallel tubular UV lamps. Some or all the tubular UV lamps (2, 4) irradiate at least two reaction chambers (1) directly and are provided with reflectors (19). This results in less space being required and in optimum utilisation of the radiation of the tubular UV lamps (2, 4).
