To obtain the subject cosmetic having humectant effects even at the time of cold and excellent in preventing effects on skin roughening and protecting effects on ultraviolet rays by including a raffinose and an ultraviolet ray protecting agent.

This cosmetic is obtained by including (A) a raffinose prepared from a eucalyptic manna, molasses of a beet, a cotton fruit, or the like, [one kind of trisaccharide having a structure of an O-α-D-galactopyranosyl-(1,6)-O-α-D- glucopyranosyl-(1,2)-β-D-fructofuranoside], (B) an ultraviolet ray protecting agent of (i) a particulate metal oxide (e.g. particulate titanium oxide or particulate zinc oxide) and/or (ii) an organic ultraviolet light absorber (e.g. 2-ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamate). In the above cosmetic, the amounts of the ingredients are preferably 0.1-10 wt.% of the ingredient A, 1-40 wt.% of the ingredient (i) and 1-20 wt.% of the ingredient (ii).
