To prevent a user's finger from being damaged in opening/closing an umbrella by providing a spreader holding type protection cover at a lower ring part.

A spreader holder type protection cover 1 is provided at a lower ring 2. The cover 2 has a bottom surface at its one end and is a cylindrical form, and around the cover 1, cut parts are provided in which spreaders 3 connected to the lower ring 2 are fitted. The form of the cover 1 may be determined freely to cover the connecting part of the ends of the spreader 3. For example, it may be C shape viwed from the upper surface by removing a part of the side of cylinder form. As a result, there is nor danger of injury in a finer caused by the held ends of the spreaders 3 in use, thereby providing an umbrella excellent in safety.
