Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an umbrella having such an improved durability that the umbrella is not easily turned inside out even in strong wind.
CONSTITUTION: A pivotal member 20 is provided with a base part 20a, a pair of pivot support pieces 20b, 20c projecting from the base part 20a and a stopper part 20d. The base part 20a is provided with an insert hole 30 through which the intermediate part of a main rib 15 is fixedly inserted. One end of a branch rib 16 is pivotably supported between the pivot support pieces 20b, 20c by the use of an eyelet fitting 22 or the like. A tapered stopper part 20d increasing the height as the base end side of the main rib 15 is approached is continuously provided across a gap between the pivot support pieces 20b, 20c. Even when the branch rib 16 is pivoted to the base end side of the main rib 15 over a predetermined position with the umbrella open, it is not pivoted until it becomes nearly parallel to the main rib 15 so that it abuts against the stopper part 20d to be locked thereon.
