To obtain a colored pencil lead, having not only writing quality, color developing properties and erasability with a rubber eraser but also a bending strength sufficient to use especially as a colored pencil lead having ≤2 mm diameter for mechanical pencils and good in color developing properties for not only a white plain paper but also even a black paper.

This unbaked colored pencil lead contains N -lauloyllysine and boron nitride and titanium dioxide whiskers used as a body material in its amount of 58-65 wt.% based on the whole (except the amount of a solvent used when the solvent is used) and the amount of the boron nitride used is within the range of 17-60 wt.% based on the amount of the titanium dioxide whiskers used in the unbaked colored pencil lead using at least a binder, the body material, a colorant and a lubricant.
