To provide an uncoiler which can unwind a coiled material well by running a let-off means continuously.
The invented uncoiler is equipped with an uncoiler motor 3 which lets off a strip W unwound from the coiled material. The uncoiler intermittently feeds the strip W to a pressing machine 6 in a regular cycle while leveling the strip W and forms a strip loop R. The uncoiler is also equipped with a let-off speed computing means 19 for obtaining a mean let-off speed for a pressing device 6, a detecting means 8 for continuously detecting the position H of the strip loop R, a compensating means 12 for compensating the let-off speed of the uncoiler motor 3 at every let-off action in a regular length on the basis of the position H, and a let-off speed indicating means 11 which directs the uncoiler motor 3 to let off the strip W on the basis of the let-off speed compensated by the compensating means 12.
