PURPOSE: To provide the titled undercoating agent composed mainly of a liquid epoxy resin, fine silica powder and a specific organic silicon compound, having high thixotropic property, stable with time and useful for the resin-coating of a film capacitor produced by winding a metallized plastic film.
CONSTITUTION: The objective undercoating agent is composed mainly of (A) 100pts.(wt.) of a liquid epoxy resin (e.g. bisphenol A-type epoxy resin), (B) preferably 2W6pts. of fine silica powder (preferably highly dispersible amorphous silica synthesized by the hydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride in oxyhydrogen flame) and (C) preferably 0.5W5pts. of an organic silicon compound of formula [R1 is organic group having epoxy group; R2 is -R'-O-R'-OH or -R'-OH (R' is 2W4C alkenyl); R3 is 1W3C hydrocarbon group; n is 1W3] such as γ- glycidoxypropyl(β-hydroxyethoxy)silane, etc.
