Title:
UNDERWATER COMMUNICATION APPARATUS FOR DIVER AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010149675
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To suppress power consumption of a power supply in a communication apparatus carried by a diver because a space for mounting the power supply (battery) is limited and therefore a capacity of the power supply is limited.

The underwater communication apparatus for a diver, which is carried by a diver in water, transmits first information to an opposite apparatus and then receives second information transmitted by the opposite apparatus on the condition of reception of the first information. The underwater communication apparatus for a diver includes: a transmitting unit for transmitting the first information by ultrasound; a receiving unit for receiving the second information transmitted by the opposite apparatus by ultrasound; a power supply unit for generating the power supply for the transmitting unit and the receiving unit; and a supply control unit for controlling the power supply for the transmitting unit and the receiving unit. After the transmitting unit transmits the first information, the supply control unit cuts the power supply for the receiving unit over a power-off period determined according to communication delay time between the underwater communication apparatus and the opposite apparatus and supplies power to the receiving unit after the lapse of the power-off period.
