To provide an underwater elevator which has excellent effects such that come-and-go between a base on the sea and a base in water is made possible without getting wet with water even if a diving suit or the like is not worn, a transportation body (transportation capsule) is hardly influenced by wave at the time of elevating, and there is little oscillation.
An opening 4a for access is provided on the upper surface of a base in water 4. A transportation capsule 5 equipped with an entrance which can be connected with the opening 4a is suspended in such a way that it can be moved up and down through a hoist chord 13 by a trolley hoist 12 prepared in a base 2 on the sea, and one end of plural diving chords 18 is attached to the transportation capsule 5 respectively and the other ends of the each diving chord 18 are made to be taken up by a diving winch 20 installed on the base on the sea through a guide roller installed in the base 4 in water. One end of plural guide chords 15 is fixed to the base 4 in water respectively, the other ends of each guide chord 15 are extended in the vertical direction between the base 2 on the sea and the base 4 in water, guide arms 17a are hung out from the transportation capsule 5 toward the each guide chord 15, and guide members 17 provided at the tip part of each guide arm 17a are made to be fitted to the guide chords 15 slidably and detachably.
