Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the start of operating an underwater granulating apparatus in a method for underwater granulating thermoplastic resin material by a screw type kneading extruder and the apparatus.
SOLUTION: The method for underwater granulating thermoplastic resin material comprises the steps of temporarily stopping a steady operation in a heating state that a kneading extruder supplies a resin material, increasing the heating amount of a die 2 from the state that a cutter 5 is stopped, the die 2 is reduced in the heating amount and the outer surface 2a is covered with cooling water to set the resin material of the softened state in a nozzle 7 to melted state, and starting to drive the extruder upon starting to drive the cutter 5.
