PURPOSE: To continuously image-pick up the clear picture of suspended fine powder under water, and to use it for analyzing water quality.
CONSTITUTION: This underwater powder image pickup device is provided with a lighting container 13 in which a lighting device is stored and a transparent part is formed at a part of it so that light from this lighting device is transmitted, an image pickup container 12 in which an image pickup device for image- picking up an enlarged image is stored and a transparent window is formed at the part opposed to the transparent part of the lighting container 13 so that lighting light can be incident to this image pickup device, and a preparation device which is constituted of a thin slit plate 17 fixed to the transparent window of the image pickup container 12 and having a slit formed at a position corresponding to the optical axis of the image pickup device, slide glass 19 to slide between an image picking up position to fix test water in the slit and a test water exchanging position to release the slit, and a sliding means to slide the slide glass 19 between the image picking up position and the test water exchanging position in a gap which is formed between the transparent part of the lighting container 13 and the transparent window of the image pickup container 12 and is communicated partially with the outside.
