Title:
UNFIRED CARBON-CONTAINING REFRACTORY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06135764
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide unfired carbon-contg. refractories excellent in oxidation and corrosion resistance.

CONSTITUTION: Cryolite is added to a blend consisting essentially of 3-30wt.% carbonaceous material and the balance fireproof material by 0.1-10wt.% of the amt. of the blend to obtain the objective unfired carbon-contg. refractories. Metal powder may be added to the refractories by ≤10wt.%. The cryolite dissolves oxides such as Al2O3, SiO2, MgO, CaO and ZrO2 as components of the fireproof material and forms a low m.p. compsn. This compsn. coats the periphery of the carbonaceous material, inhibits oxidation and enhances corrosion resistance.
