Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reconcile the improvement of combustion stability in a light load region with that of torque in a high load region in a uniflow type 2-cycle engine, having a fuel injection valve for intra-cylinder direct injection on the upper part of a combustion chamber and a scavenging port, opened/closed according to the vertical movement of a piston, on the cylinder peripheral wall of the lower part of the combustion chamber.

CONSTITUTION: First and second fuel injection valves 9A and 9B for intra- cylinder direct injection are arranged on the upper part of the combustion chamber 2 of a cylinder 1, and the spray angle θ1 of the first fuel injection valve 9A is set so that the extension line of the fuel spray expansion can reach the cylinder peripheral wall in a position lower than the upper edge 4a of the scavenging port. The fuel spray angle θ2 of the second fuel injection valve 9B is set θ2>θ1 so that the ignition position of an ignition plug 8 can exist in the fuel spray expansion.
