To provide a unilateral external bone fixator device, allowing for gross manipulation and fine adjustment of deformities in six degrees of freedom.
This bone fixator device includes strut assemblies 150, 160 and two compound movable joints 110, 120. Two compound movable joints are provided one for each end of the strut assemblies. One compound movable joint 110 may include two revolute joints 306, 308, each containing a gear reduction mechanism and may rotate around the strut. The second compound movable joint 120 may contain two revolute joints 302, 304, each containing a gear reduction mechanism, and may move along the length of the strut assembly. The gear reduction mechanism may include helical spline assemblies that allows for gross and fine adjustment of the fixator.
