Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the terminal shape and the coil position of the magnetic mixer to be arranged to a ladle in a manner that the density B of magnetic flux in the molten metal, and the electric source volume Q meet the desired design standard.
SOLUTION: Designating the protruded volume of a pole 12 from the inner peripheral of an iron core to the exterior peripheral of the furnace as D0, the distance from the pole tip to the centrer of each coil as D1, the width in the horizontal direction of each coil and that of the vertical direction to the refractory of the ladle as D2, and the width of the pole 12 as D3, and D0:D1:D2D:D3=1: k1k:2:k3. In the case of the combination of 0.7≤k1≤0.8, 0.3≤k2≤0.4, 0.55≤k3≤0.65, the density of magnetic flux B in the molten metal is the largest, and in the case of 0.15≤k1≤0.3, 0.25≤k2≤0.35, 0.35≤k3≤0.5, the volume of electric source Q is the smallest. Further, in the case of 0.2≤k1≤0.3, 0.3≤k2≤0.4, 0.45≤k3≤0.55, ratio of the density B of the flux in the molten metal to the electric source Q, B/Q is the largest, and in the case of 0.2≤k1≤0.3, 0.3≤k2≤0.4, 0.5≤k3≤0.6, the magnetic efficiency B2/Q is the largest.
