To provide a degassing/replacing unit which can be assembled directly in a liquid production process or in a liquid transportation system for carrying our on-line degassing of a gas dissolved in the liquid circulated in the pipeline for transporting the liquid or on-line replacement of the gas dissolved in the liquid with another gas, which can be installed compactly without requiring a special space at a middle or a terminal of an already existing or newly laid liquid pipeline, and with which a conventionally used closed container for degassing or replacing gas in a liquid is made unnecessary.
The unit comprises hollow fiber membranes 2 capable of degassing or replacing a gas dissolved in a liquid in an air-tight flexible pipe 1 and the hollow fiber membranes 2 are connected to a middle or a terminal of a liquid transportation pipeline 3 in communicating manner so as to pass the transported liquid through the hollow fiber membranes 2 and either the inside of the flexible pipe is vacuumed or a replacing gas is blown to the flexible pipe to degas or replace the gas dissolved in the transported liquid passed through the hollow fiber membranes.
