To provide a torque transmission member for a universal coupling, and its manufacturing method, which is formed of a -sialon sintered compact and stably ensures sufficient durability at a low cost, and also to provide the universal coupling having the torque transmission member for the universal coupling.
A fixed coupling which is the universal coupling comprises: an outer race 12 connected to a shaft 16; balls 13 arranged to be rollable in an outer race ball groove 12A of the outer race 12 in contact with the outer race 12; and a shaft 15 connected to the shaft 16 through the balls 13 and the outer race 12. The ball 13 is composed of a sintered compact which is mainly composed of -sialon expressed by a composition formula of Si6-ZAlZOZN8-Z, satisfies 0.1z3.5, and has the rest formed of impurities.
