PURPOSE: To improve the piping workability in the angle adjustment, by providing a locking means which makes it possible to lock the engaging parts in the condition a rubber ring is not operated to seal, in the system where the first and the second engaging parts formed to the pipe connections of the first and the second pipes are seal-connected by a rubber ring.
CONSTITUTION: When a universal coupling is assembled, at first a rubber ring 44 is installed to the rubber ring installing groove 22 of the first engaging part 20 of the first pipe connection 12, while an about C-shape locking ring 46 is installed to the locking ring installing groove 38 of the second engaging part 36 of the second pipe connection 14, and a lubricant such as silicon is applied to the rubber ring 44. Then, the first engaging part 20 is installed in the second engaging part 36, and the tapered surface of the locking ring 46 is pressed by the connection end face A1 of the pipe connection 12 and the rubber ring 44 so as to expand the diameter of the locking ring 46, and after the locking ring 46 overcomes the rubber ring 44, it is installed to a locking ring tentative installing groove 24. Then, a fixing member such as a rubber is installed between the end face of the second engaging part 36 and the first engaging part 20, so as to fix both connections 12 and 14.
