To provide a universal joint having excellent lubricant retaining force, capable of minimizing the oozed amount of a lubricating component even if deformed by an external force, capable of preventing a lubricant from spattering from an opening portion, having a long service life, manufacturable at low cost, and having excellent productivity.
In this universal joint, a torque is transmitted by the engagement of track grooves 4, 5 formed in an outer member 2 and an inner member 3, respectively, with a torque transmission member 6, and the torque transmission member 6s is rolled along the track grooves 4, 5 to move in the axial direction. The porous solid lubricant 10 is enclosed in the universal joint around the torque transmission member 6. The porous solid lubricant 10 necessitates the lubricating component and a resin component, and is formed in a porous solid matter by foaming and hardening the resin component. The universal joint has a spatter prevention means for preventing the lubricating component from spattering from the solid matter.
