To provide a latching device which can bind and hold its latch bolt in an unlocking position through simple operation, and allows the owner to trace unauthentic unlocking if it occurs.

According to the structure of the latching device, a lock lever 8 housed in an expanding slot 7 formed in the latch bolt 6, is supported by the latch bolt 6 in a protrudably rotatable manner, and the lock lever 8 is rotatively energized in a direction that sinks/protrudes the tip of the lock lever 8 into/from the expanding slot 7, by a spring 3, followed by providing an operating portion 11 for the latch bolt 6 housed in a case 2. Thus when the latch bolt 6 is slidingly retreated to the unlocking position, a distal end face 8a of the lock lever 8 protruded from the expanding slot 7 is abutted on a hole edge 5a of a lock hole 5. Then a stopper 40 for inhibiting the latch bolt 6 from slidingly retreating, by abutting on a proximal end of the latch bolt 6, is provided for the case 2 in a manner transversely movable on the same, and an operating window hole 46 for the stopper 40 is formed in a front wall of the case 2, followed by forming through holes 50, 51 of a sealing member 52 in the operating portion 11 and a bulged portion 49 of the case 2.
