PURPOSE: An unsaturated polyester resin composition having improved fluidity in molding, comprising an unsaturated polyester resin, a compound of metal capable of forming a metal salt with carboxyl groups in the polyester resin, and a fibrous material.
CONSTITUTION: A composition comprising (A) an unsaturated polyester resin having a molecular weight of 500W3,000 and an acid value of 30W50, (B) a compound of metal capable of forming a metal salt with carboxyl groups in the polyester resin as a thickener, and (C) a fibrous material. An unsaturated polyester resin having carboxyl groups at the molecular chain ends or in the side chain is preferably used. For example, to form a bathtub requiring resistance to hot water, unsaturated polyester resin consisting of isophthalic acid, and neopentyl glycol is favorably used. Magnesium, zinc, calcium oxides, etc. may be cited as the thickener.
