PURPOSE: To prepare an unsaturated resin composition useful for laminating, casting, press molding, etc., and having low-shrinkage and excellent chemical resistance, heat resistance, etc., by compounding an unsaturated polyester composed of a dicarboxylic acid having specific structure, etc., with an aromatic vinyl monomer etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An unsatuated polyester prepared from (a) a compound of formula I or II (R1WR10, R', and R" are H or alkyl; m=1W2; n=0W1) or its mixture with other saturated acids (e.g. phthalic anhydride), (b) an unsaturated acid (e.g. maleic anhydride) and (c) a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, neopentyl glycol, bisphenol A, etc.) is compounded with (B) α,β- ethylenic unsaturated monomers preferably consisting ≥50wt% of aromatic vinyl monomers (e.g. styrene). Preferably (a)/(b)=10W80/ 90W20 (molar ratio) and (A)/(B)(=60W20/40W80 (weight ratio).
