PURPOSE: To prepare the titled resin composition having excellent storage stability as powder, and giving coating film having improved smoothness, weatherability, solvent resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., and suitable for powder coating, by adding a cerium compound, a wax, and a radical generator to the base resin.
CONSTITUTION: The objective resin composition is obtained by compounding (A) 100pts.wt. of an unsaturated polyester which is solid at room temperature (pref. a polyester having a molecular weight of 2,000W14,000 and a softening point of 50W120°C and derived from an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid component and a polyhydric alcohol component containing 10W40mol% of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol), (B) 0.001W1pt.wt., as cerium metal, of a cerium compound, (C) 0.01W 1pt.wt. of a wax (pref. a polyolefin wax having a melting point of 10W200°C), and (D) 0.1W5pts.wt. of a radical generator (pref. a peroxide having a decomposition temperature of 130W300°C corresponding to the half life of 1min, and 70W 200°C corresponding to the half life of 10hr.
EFFECT: Excellent coating characteristics comparable to that of a solvent-type coating composition.
