PURPOSE: To construct a simple traffic discriminating section and to provide the UPC circuit with superior versatility and extension.
CONSTITUTION: The UPC circuit controlling the cell flow amount based on the described information on the cell traffic is provided with a bridge memory BM storing information by types of incoming cells 100 in time series, a fast pointer holding means XP holding the address of the type information of the prescribed cell stored in the BM, and a control section CTL making a polishing discrimination by controlling these elements. Preferentially, at the arrival of the prescribed cell, the time interval from the entrance of the BM to the address pointed by the XP is determined to make an illegal discrimination of the incoming cell. It is also provided with a count means CM, controlling the number of type information of the prescribed cell to be counted from the entrance of the BM to the described cell number X. The address of the type information of the prescribed cell pointed by the CM is held by the XP.
