Abstract:
To efficiently update or restore the software of a terminal connected to a network.SOLUTION: An update controller in an embodiment of the present invention comprises a first communication unit, a second communication unit, and a control unit. The first communication unit receives patch data for each block of software and data for first authentication for each block in order to authenticate, for each block, the software updated with the patch data from an external server of a network. The second communication unit transmits, for each block, the patch data and the data for first authentication to the terminal via the network, and receives the per-block update result from the terminal via the network. When an update result is received from the terminal that indicates failure of authentication in the M'th block of software (where, M is greater than 1), the control unit requests a rollback process by the terminal for restoring the software from the first block to the M-1'th block using the patch data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
