Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily update an option board even without using a dedicated jig.
SOLUTION: A printer 1 is provided with an option board 30 which can be updated by recording firmware data, input interface 20 for selectively fetching print data and firmware data, and output destination switching part OCH for selectively switching the output destination of input data fetched into the input interface 20 to the option board 30 or print processing part 11. The output destination switching processing part OCH sends the firmware data, which are inputted from an update device 2 through the input interface 20, to the option board 30 and at the time point when the completion report of update from the option board 30 is received, the output destination is switched to the side of the printing processing part 11.
